Ease of installation was a major factor in the refurbishment process of this iconic building, particularly with space being tight, but this was easily addressed by the use of Geberit products. The Geberit Monolith in particular made light work of replacing the floor standing WCs, being simple to connect to existing plumbing work, without the need for chiselling or re-tiling. A total of 53 Geberit Monoliths and 32 basin frames are now in place at Telephone House, working not just on a practical level, but also enhancing the space aesthetically, giving it a fresh, contemporary appearance. Due to the choice of colour options available for Geberit Monolith it was possible to specify models in black for the men’s toilet block to give it a masculine finish, whilst the ladies toilets are fitted with Geberit Monolith in white for a more feminine touch.
“The toilet block space was fixed which created a space planning issue in the Gents toilet in order to conform to the relevant regulations. It required the use of a slim line cistern system, the pulling forward of the existing cubicle panels and stile frames and to ensure we had the correct distance to open the new cubicle door.
After much debate it was decided to fix the panel to the existing structure and install the Geberit Monolith with a Wall-hung WC pan. The slim-line profile of the Geberit Monolith, combined with the Geberit Duofix frame for the basins, provide the ideal solution to the space issue and also dealt with the issue of ease and efficiency of maintenance which had been a problem with the previous system.” Concludes Martin McCann, Project Manager at Eircom
