Data Centre Resilience why fuel infrastructure deserves a seat at the data centre resilience table

Fuel infrastructure is presented as a critical resilience gap in UK data centres. The report outlines risks, design considerations and practical strategies for strengthening backup power systems.

Data centres now sit at the heart of the UK economy. They support healthcare, public services, cloud computing, AI and financial services, and demand for capacity keeps climbing. Keeping these facilities running around the clock matters more than ever.
Most resilience conversations focus on cooling, electrical infrastructure and backup generators. Fuel infrastructure, the pipework that gets fuel to those generators when the grid fails, rarely gets the same scrutiny. We think that needs to change.

Find out why fuel pipework is the resilience gap most teams are missing.

Introducing The Resilience Imperative

Our new report, The Resilience Imperative: Embedding Fuel Infrastructure Resilience into Data Centre Design, looks at the risks, design considerations and installation challenges facing consultants, designers and project teams working on fuel systems.
David Palmer, our National Sales Manager for UK & Ireland, explains why this matters now:

“As expectations around uptime continue to rise, resilience can no longer be viewed in isolation. It is important to consider full systems too, which includes fuel infrastructure, the pipes, valves and fittings that play a critical role in transferring fuel to ensure backup power performs when it needs to.

“By applying the same principles of redundancy, risk reduction and future readiness to fuel systems, operators can strengthen resilience across the entire data centre.“
The report also makes the case for secondary containment, an additional layer of leak protection around the primary fuel pipe, and sets out how project teams can align piping systems, installation methods and future fuel strategies.

Discover DCPress

The report also introduces DCPress, our new dual containment system and the first of its kind that can be fully pressed. It delivers enhanced leak protection for mission-critical industrial environments, with no welding required.
