Geberit sponsor social design exhibit
13th December 2018
Geberit is sponsoring the ‘Victor Papanek – Pioneer of Social Design’ exhibit, held at the acclaimed Vitra Design Museum, in Weil Am Rhein, Germany. Running from 29 September 2018 to March 2019, the exhibit is the first ever large retrospective, which focuses on the engineer, author, and activist Victor J. Papanek (1923 – 1993).
The showcase is a celebration of the life and work of Victor Papanek, who was responsible for writing ‘Design for the real World’, a book that is often cited as one of the most widely read design books ever published.
With Papanek being one of the most influential pioneers of sustainable and humanitarian design, Geberit feel the showcase is pertinent to the company’s passion for intelligent design and outstanding function, that helps improve quality of life.
Sophie Weston, Channel Marketing Manager at Geberit said: “At Geberit we are of the opinion, that Victor Papanek’s intellectual work on ‘Design for the Real World’ represents our thinking around ‘Design Meets Function’. In a similar vein to Papanek, we have an unremitting commitment to create products that are easy to use, easy to clean and increase comfort.”
As the main sponsor, Geberit will be hosting a number of events at the prestigious Vitra Campus, with industry professionals across design and architecture in attendance.
The show, which will include a wealth of original work from the Papanek archive, will also include objects of Papanek’s contemporaries such as Charles & Ray Eames, the groundbreaking designers of the iconic Eames Lounge Chair.
