Geberit celebrates success at the inaugural MERIT Awards

23rd January 2019

It was a night to remember for Geberit, as everyone made their way up the red carpet to celebrate the company’s inaugural MERIT Awards, where all areas of the business joined together for a night of recognition and celebration.

During the four-month long nomination process, Geberit employees voted in their hundreds, for those individuals and teams, they believe, deserved recognition for outstanding work over the past year.

The awards were based on Geberit’s five company values - Modesty, Enthusiasm, Renew Ourselves, Integrity, Teamwork (MERIT) - and with the votes cast, judges had the unenviable task of whittling down over 160 nominations to just 5 deserved finalists and 1 overall winner for each category.

Those recognised at the first annual MERIT Awards were:

  • The Unsung Hero Award (Modesty): Laura Byrne
  • The Excellence in Service Delivery Award (Enthusiasm): Purdie Proudman
  • The Dedication to Professional Development Award (Renew Ourselves): Graham Aird
  • The Geberit Spirit Award (Integrity): Lucas Vogan
  • The Geberit Team of the Year Award (Teamwork): Retail Sales Team

The winner of the coveted ‘Executive Team Award for Outstanding Individual Contribution’ was Paulette Mansell, receiving the award on stage from Geberit Sales Managing Director, Mark Larden.

Hosted by Geberit’s very own People & Organisational Development Manager, Matthew Hotten, the MERIT Awards resembled an Oscar-like gala, transforming the venue into an atmosphere of elegant decoration and impressive audio visuals.

Discussing the awards, Mark Larden, said: “It was our first ever MERIT Awards this year, so there was quite a lot of anticipation throughout the business. It turned out to be a great night. Importantly, we wanted to celebrate those who have really stood out in our business over the past twelve months, and we feel that the values-based awards structure truly reflected these achievements. We can’t wait for next year!”
